How Much Is Parking at Gatwick Airport?

How Much Is Parking at Gatwick Airport?

Gatwick airport is the second busiest airport in the UK by total passenger traffic. With an airport, this busy, finding parking can definitely be an issue.

There are options when it comes to airport parking Gatwick, and they include valet, meet-and-greet, and onsite and offsite parking.

There are also self-park options that allow you to park your car and will shuttle you over to the airport terminal where you can find your way to your gate.

When you are using a self-park service, be sure to note which terminal you are going to because some parcades only service certain terminals.

The prices for parking varies by what type of parking you choose as well the length of time you are leaving and dates of your flights.

1. Valet

Valet parking is offered at the airport, but it is more for the hotel guests than the average airport travellers.

With valet parking, you will pull up to the designated valet area where you will be met by a professional baggage handler or driver.

The driver will then drive you to your destination and you will forward your departure and arrival information to them for your return.

Although tipping is not mandatory for valet parking, it is customary and will, therefore, alter the price of your parking in that aspect.

2. Meet and Greet

Meet and greet parking options are the most convenient for parking. With meet and greet parking, you drive directly to your terminal where you will be met by a professional driver who will then park your car for you.

This option differs from valet parking because you are going straight to your terminal, not a specified valet parking location. When you return, your vehicle is brought back to you and like valet parking, a tip for your driver is expected for good service.

3. Onsite Parking

Onsite parking is parking on the airport property. Parking on the property is typically more expensive than parking off-site.

Onsite parking includes multistory parcades where travellers can self-park and walk to the terminals, meet and greet parking, and valet park.

There is maintenance done to the property and security that patrols all of the parking garages that alter the pricing of parking. Onsite parking can be more convenient, as well, and convenience does cost more wherever you go.

Off-Site Parking

Offsite parking is typically property located within ten kilometre-distance of the airport property.

Offsite parking tends to be the cheapest of all parking options, especially when you are self-parking offsite.

Self-parking offsite may be cheaper, but you have to ensure that you arrive in a timely manner because not only will you have to self park your vehicle, but you will have to take a shuttle bus to the airport with other passengers. This time should all be calculated to ensure you don’t miss your flight.

Traveling can be pricey, especially when you’re looking for convenient airport parking. If you’re staying at a hotel around the airport, they often offer deals for parking and shuttling to and from the airport.

Ensure that the hotel is aware of your travelling plans and is willing to accommodate your shuttle directly to the terminal.

Even though parking can be an expense, there are ways to cut your costs if you’re willing to take a shuttle and walk a bit to your terminal.

If you don’t have the time to spare, make the best parking decision for your situation that will save you time and money.

Ensure that you are getting the best rates available to you for the time your travelling by choosing the best parking option for you, whether it be for convenience or for pricing. Remember saving a few dollars won’t be much if you miss your flight and have to re-book your ticket.
