9 Reasons Why Businessmen Should Start Drinking Tea

Tea consumption has been gradually perking up since the ’90s. Numerous research studies have argued that tea is beneficial to our bodies, particularly, in our minds. Have you ever experienced mental or physical exhaustion when doing a work-related project? Did you try downing some tea for focus? How did you feel afterward? You felt Productive. Right? The chemical components in this lightly caffeinated beverage make it perfect for mental stimulation. Now that your curiosity is sparked, you can read on to learn why businessmen should drink tea

  1. Hydrates The Body

A cohort study sponsored by the United Kingdom Advisory Panel was conducted on twenty-one individuals, to tackle the misjudgment that tea dehydrates the body. The results depicted that its consumption does hydrate the body, with the hydration levels being equivalent to those of water hydration. Drinking six to eight mugs is enough to keep you hydrated for the day. You do not necessarily have to scout for water when your throat is dry.

  1. Reduces Mental and Physical Stress

Research commissioned by Direct Line Insurance Company conducted a study in the United Kingdom to analyze whether tea affects mood. The researchers grouped forty-two volunteers into two even groups then tasked them to mark the letter “d” from a passage. The idea was to induce stress in the first task, provide a cup of tea to one group and water to the other, then assign the groups another stress-inducing assignment. The assessment results showed no significant contrast in stress levels in the beginning. A 25% rise in stress levels was, however, noted in the non-tea group after assessing the second task. Tea contains an amino acid called L-thiamine that stimulates the production of neurons that calm the nerves, hence promoting a calming effect in times of stress. Need I say more?

  1. Energizes the body and mind

Caffeine restores and invigorates energy in the body. Some research studies consider tea a better alternative to coffee when it comes to stimulation because it has a more sustainable effect. Coffee energizes for a shorter period and is followed by a crash that lowers your psyche, making you feel more tired than before. For this reason, whenever you are feeling sluggish, just down some tea for productivity.

  1. Increases Memory and Cognitive Ability

Research conducted at the University of Newcastle concluded that green and black teas inhibit enzymatic activity in our minds, thus enhancing our memory. Numerous research studies have been striving to create medicinal teas that can act as a mild treatment for Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The findings in most of these studies conclude that green and black teas inhibit enzymes that catalyze the development of these degenerative diseases. Owning a business is not easy. You have to take stock of inventory, call customers and clients, set and attend meetings, and follow up on operations. Just brew some loose leaf tea in a cup of 2% milk and water, then add 2 pints of sugar to stimulate your memory and enable you to easily recall your tasks for the week without having to consult your diary.

  1. Enables Socialization

Offering tea to guests at your home is considered a sign of hospitability in many cultures, including the western culture. You can extend this hospitability to your business when hosting investors, sharing investment ideas with partners, training your staff, or closing deals with clients. They most certainly will appreciate the kind gesture and will be more open to working with you. Cacao, chamomile, green, and ginseng are good teas for businessmen on such occasions.

  1. Lowers Risk of Metabolic Syndrome

The lifestyle of a businessman is often busy and at times, stressful. The long work hours and the constant eating of high caloric density foods might alleviate the risk of getting hypertension, not to mention, obesity and diabetes. Metabolic syndrome is a combination of medication conditions that arise mainly from lifestyle choices. The risk factors of metabolic syndrome include obesity, high blood sugar, hypertension, and high cholesterol. A study by Consumer Reports denoted that tea lowers the risk of getting type 2 diabetes, glaucoma, and cardiovascular diseases due to the presence of antioxidants. Another consumer study found that teas infused with hibiscus lower blood pressure.

  1. Protects from Ultraviolet Radiation

Oolong and black teas have high amounts of polyphenols like catechins that protect your skin from inflammation caused by radiation. Many manufacturers use these extracts in skincare products. If your business requires you to be frequently outdoor and onsite, a daily cup of iced tea will refresh you, keep you energized while protecting your skin from sunburns.

  1. Lowers Risk of Cancer

Green and black teas contain antioxidants that prevent oxidative reactions by removing agents that act as free radicals. Our bodies naturally fight free radicals, though only up to a certain extent. A high number of free radicals elevates the risk of getting cancer. A study on Finnish men indicated that the consumption of green tea lowers the risk of colon cancer. Another cohort study conducted on Japanese females who drink more than ten cups per day gathered results that the females had a lower cancer occurrence rate.

  1. Maintain Body-weight

Tea consumption, when paired with exercise and diet helps maintain body weight. Tea contains catechins that improve the body’s metabolism, thus enabling a quick breakdown of fat. The caffeine too, causes one to be more active hence accelerating caloric burn. Through these two mechanisms, you get to maintain your body weight, though ensure you couple it up with exercise.

You can increase your productivity at work by consuming that cup of tea you prefer. A better alternative would be to motivate employees to drink tea during periodic breaks at work. Ingraining this culture in your business will ensure the employees stay motivated and energized, which will boost productivity and improve the overall success of your business. You don’t necessarily have to stroll to the store in search of teabags. Just search for an online tea and coffee shop that can deliver to your business premise.
